Congratulations! That’s wonderful! I can’t wait to hear about this new novel. I’ve learned a lot about my process over the last year and part of that is that I’m not ready for something like NaNo. Really impressive you could do it!

I had all intentions of NOT participating this year, but I needed to attach myself to a new project so I dove right in.
The sprints I did in the Savvy chatroom really helped me my word-count, and having to check in every day made me accountable.Oh, I also did the final run with KOD’s BIAW (Book In A Week) program – you were so right – that RWA chapter is super-supportive.

Did you finish the book or just reach 50K? All my books are way longer than 50K, so even if I did participate, and won (might as well be positive in my dreams), I wouldn’t have a finished novel; just a good portion of it. Then again, if I didn’t stop to edit all the time (and I do, I can’t help it), I probably COULD have a finished novel at 50K. It would just be real thin. Like, mostly dialogue thin.

So fun to hear about your process. This novel will probably finish up around 70K, so definitely more to write.
This year I didn’t edit as I wrote, though that’s always been my practice too. We’ll see what happens in the edit, which I’ll start next month. Now that the bones of the story are on the page, I’ll clean it up, add needed scenes, and cut what can go.
I think editing – fixing up that second draft is one of my favorite parts of writing.
