ke’s Holiday Hot Chocolate Recipe
Now, most people love Hot Chocolate. It’s warm. Sweet. Delicious. A treat for the soul, right? Can we all get a shout-out for our favorite Hot Chocolate? Amen!
However, my hero, Jake Simons, from Marmalade’s First Christmas has taken Hot Chocolate to a whole new level. This isn’t your mother’s foil-packet solution to take off the chill of winter (No disrespect to your Mama. We love those little marshmallows!)
Jake Simons takes his Hot Chocolate recipe into the stratosphere, and connects with people.
Jake’s Mama is actually responsible for the composition of the recipe. She loved that boy so much. And, while she’s gone on to heaven when we meet Jake in Marmalade’s First Christmas, she prepared him for real life like all good Mama’s will. She taught Jake how to cook. One of his favorite recipes is his Mama’s Hot Chocolate.
Good thing, considering Marley West, Jake’s love interest in the story, can’t even boil water without burning it. LOL!
Jake’s got his work cut out for him when it comes to Miss Marley. And feeding her. Body, and soul.
But, never fear. Love, Holidays, and Hot Chocolate have a way of connecting people despite a Christmas Blizzard.
Here’s the Hot Chocolate recipe Jake fixes for Marley, the soul-warming drink that captures her heart:
Jake’s Blizzard Remedy Rich Hot Chocolate
Ingredients:
2 cups heavy whipping cream
8 oz (1 Cup) Dark Chocolate (Substitute your favorite Milk Chocolate if desired)
2 Tbsp of your favorite Cream Liqueur (Jake uses Baileys Irish Cream)
3 Cinnamon Sticks
1 tsp fresh grated Nutmeg
Candy Canes for stirring
Directions:
Heat whipping cream gently on low-medium heat, in a saucepan, and do not boil. Keep heat at a simmer.
Cut up dark chocolate into small pieces, and float into simmering cream. Stir well until chocolate is incorporated.
Float cinnamon sticks in the simmering chocolate cream.
Pour into Christmas mugs.
Douse with a generous splash of your favorite Cream Liqueur.
Grate fresh nutmeg over the Hot Chocolate.
Garnish with a candy cane to stir.
Serve generously to the people you love.
