I just finished the second novel in my new Hunters’ Watch Brigade series and sent it off to my super-intuitive editor, Brenda. 2017 was a busy writing year. I won NaNo again thanks to this book, and Sam and Max, and their wily antagonist Alex. (But I was to busy to celebrate back in November.) I wrote alongside an awesome group of NaNo colleagues, and it was fun checking in with them by email everyday. Writers need other writers.
I spent most of December editing book two. I’m constantly amazed at how stories knit themselves together during the editing phase. My fantastic critique partner Bonnie says the second book is more amazing than the first. I can’t wait to share this story with all my readers.
Line edits are done on the first novel in my new series, and it’s off to the copy editor. <Snorts> (What she must think of me and that story.) It was wonderful to get a chance to immerse myself back in Max and Sam’s story world again. Hope she enjoys the work as much as I did.
I’m honestly having so much fun with Sam and Max’s character arc. Spreading a romance over a three book arc challenged my writing skills, and I’m better for it. Max had a family curse to deal with, and Sam, well, she had some internal issues come up when she least expected them, along with her usual monster-fighting tasks.
Next up for me, plotting the finishing touches on my plan for book three, and my publishing goals for the new year. Hope 2018 brings you all the joy you deserve.
